NEWS FROM OUR FELLOWS AROUND THE WORLD

Fellows' Meeting in London

After the successful conclusion of their Summer Fellowship programme at Cambridge University, the ADR Fellows of 2011 met up with previous participants and their EBDRF facilitators at a series of meetings in the UK, France and the USA.

At the first of these meetings, held in London in early October, the Foundation's Executive Director Firoz Ladak (right) introduced incoming Project Manager Pauline Cavillot (left) to the Fellows.

It was a valuable opportunity to gather feedback and suggestions from our international groups, contributing to the further development of the ADR Fellowship in Social Enterprise and Cross-Cultural Dialogue.

This year's ADR Fellowship programme saw many inspiring things happen -  some at the formal sessions, some beforehand. Here's one which was sparked for two participants who met ON their way to Cambridge.

Sara Green and Reima Yosif's story caught the attention of the Huffington Post - and you can read the full story here, courtesy of HuffPo's 'Religion' reporter Jawed Kaleem.

A pair of articles in Omaha, Nebraska's Metro magazine featured Project Interfaith founder and 2011 ADR Fellow Beth Katz.

First profiled in 2010, Beth's work made the magazine's pages again more recently after she returned from the 2011 ADR Programme at Cambridge University in the UK.

Read the articles here: 'Building Interfaith Understanding' and 'Common Ground'. For more on Project Interfaith, visit the project's website at http://projectinterfaith.org.

Watch 2010 ADR Fellow Hussein Rashid's 'Out Of The Shadows' talk.

Out of the Shadows of 9/11: Professor Hussein Rashid on faith’s role in social change from Kellie Picallo on Vimeo.

Professor of Religion at Hofstra University and Associate Editor at Religion Dispatches’ Hussein Rashid challenges people of faith to be better, not bitter in moments of conflict.

Our French ADR Fellows recently held their first 'Jeudis Du Savoir' (Knowledge Thursdays) in which invited guests shared an evening that blended knowledge, surprise and political discourse.

The September 22nd event featured the contribution of Mr. Hamou Bouakkaz, the Deputy Mayor of Paris, and was hosted by 2009 ADR AFellow Ms. Estelle Barthelemy.

Delivered in partnership by the international network Ariane de Rothschild and the Institut du Monde Arabe, the event was held at the Arab World Institute/Institut du Monde Arabe at 1 rue des Fosses Saint-Bernard - Paris 5.

For more information (in French), please see this page.

2009 ADR Fellow Ronit Avni spoke at

the 2nd annual Social Good conference in New York.

She participated in a discussion on "digital technology and peace-building in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict".

In addition to being a Fellow of the ADR Programme, Ronit is Founder and executive director of Just Vision, an organization which unites and empowers grassroots, nonviolent Israeli and Palestinian activists. She is currently a United Nation’s Global Expert through the Alliance of Civilizations and a Young Global Leader through the World Economic Forum.

The conference was an open forum for dynamic new leaders, technologists, social entrepreneurs, bloggers, activists and the general public to leverage the power of new media to create a btter world.

Conference sessions were recorded and many are still available to view using the video player below.
